This week I’ve been the victim of a bad luck storm, demonstrating that I shouldn’t be around animals, electronics, or machinery.
Sunday I got bit by a dog. A woman was walking her two dogs in the park, and I passed them at a respectful distance. Then the smaller dog came at me like a torpedo and ripped at my left calf. My trouser leg was undamaged, but the skin was ripped beneath it. No blood. The dog’s owner made herself scarce. Terry Boren patched me up with antibiotic cream and a bandage, and the wound is healing nicely. No sign of hydrophobia so far.
Next day the tractor ran out of fuel whilst I was using it to mow down weeds. Not entirely unanticipated, but inconvenient. Then Google Translate made a hash out of a French review, and I managed to crash WordPress trying to get it to display.
The day following my iPhone just died in the middle of an exciting chapter of an audio book. The screen showed a notice suggesting that maybe I could try using the phone later. I did, and it worked, but I’m a little unnerved that the phone can just take a time out, without explanation, any time that it wants. I crashed WordPress some more but eventually got the article to display.
This morning I got up and noticed that the second toe of my right foot was covered with purple bruising. Presumably I stubbed it, but I don’t remember doing so. I await a diagnosis of gangrene.
I’d got some gasoline and filled the tractor’s tank, but it wouldn’t start, and I ran down the battery. I hooked up a battery charger, and tried over the course of the day to get the tractor to start and eventually realized that the fuel I’d put in the tank wasn’t getting to the engine. Something blocking the fuel line. Yay. I’ll see what I can do about it tomorrow.
I got all disgusted with the world because the John Deere wasn’t working, so I decided to have lunch at a new restaurant that I like, except that it turned out to be closed, I think permanently. While driving to the backup restaurant, I was sideswiped by a nice lady from Vermont driving a full-sized Dodge Ram pickup. Comprehensively sideswiped, since four panels were scraped or mangled. Fortunately the car is drivable, though I expect it to explode at any moment.
The rest of the day was spent on the phone or computer with the insurance company, and I managed to comprehensively crash Allstate’s computers several times without getting the information I needed.
I’ll call them tomorrow. If the phone works.

Whoa! That was a hard day. Must have done something to piss off the gods of karma. ?🤪?
Hope things go a little easier tomorrow.
Holy smokes, how many black cats crossed your path while you were smashing mirrors under a block full of ladders?
On the plus side, perhaps your problems with technology mean you’re developing magical powers, a la Harry Dresden.
Hope you did the rabies vaccine thing. If not, hurry.
