Don’t Blink

So the good news is that the paella was much better on the second try. Jasmine rice was surprisingly good with the dish.
The bad news is that early Monday I’m having eye surgery. Keep your fingers crossed.

Crossed. Good luck.
Best wishes for good results and complication-free recovery!
Ouch. Good luck, man.
Fingers crossed! Good luck.
Dude, that’s GOOD news. I’m glad the surgeon finally came out of hibernation and that you’re finally able to get the repair done.
You’re probably in the recovery room by now, based on “early”, so I’ll be hoping the surgery was 100% successful this time and that there’s no lasting damage. Remember, you can still wear that eye patch even if you have perfect vision in both eyes!
So, more good news.
First, a boost to morale came when I overheard some folks talking while I was getting prepped for surgery.
Q: Are you going to do [some procedure or other]?
Dr. A: No, I’m not.
Q: Why not?
Dr. A: Because I’m not a miracle worker like Doctor O.
Doctor O was my doctor. So I felt a little better about the whole thing.
The actual surgery was psychedelic. I could see things going on in my cornea, and they looked like those brilliant, false-color photographs of geology, with all the mountains and deltas in constant motion. All that was missing was a Jefferson Airplane sound track.
Dr. O frankly admitted that he didn’t know what procedure he planned to do, because he couldn’t tell until he got a look inside my eye. What he saw reassured him— the lens had been shoved down where it oughtn’t to have been, so he moved it to the proper place, and is of the opinion that it will stay there. (If not, we get to do this again.)
So right now I’m at home, with this big colander taped over my eye. I’m not in pain and there’s no aftereffects from the anesthesia.
The only side effect has been that I’ve been incredibly hungry ever since I left the surgical center. I shall dare to eat a peach.
They didn’t put a Cone Of Shame on you? 🙂
Best wishes, WJW. I hope the surgery worked!
Very happy to hear the good news. Hope you make a quick and complete recovery.
Hope those Kikuyu Optics suit you well!
Glad to hear the surgery went well, and I wish you a smooth recovery.
Mate, glad the surgery went well, just realised that “Fleet Elements” is out! Did I miss a memo? You are allowed to mention these things you know!
Last anyone told me, Fleet Elements was scheduled for a December release. If it’s out now, it’s a complete surprise, but I think it may just be available for pre-order.
