That’s a surprisingly interesting review. I was so busy worrying about stylistic points that I never paid serious attention to the economic aspects of what Quillifer was up to. Now I have to wonder if patents exist yet and if Fiona will start granting any. (The originals were royal monopolies handed out as favors; that was naturally resented, and fortunately was forced to change into the modern “create something new and get a limited reward” system.)
For the next novel, you should go back to your cyberpunk roots with “Count Quillifer Zero”.
