The International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts is having a virtual convention this weekend. I’m scheduled to do a reading on Sunday at 2pm, but the format restricts me to 15 minutes, or about 10 printed pages.
I tend to write long, and I have no 15-minute excerpts lying around. Some of you are very familiar with my oeuvre, and might know better than I what to read. Any ideas?
Terza’s chapter at the end of your latest, or is that too spoilery?
Yes, that is too spoiler, I’m afraid.
That short-story where Edgar Allen Poe didn’t die in a gutter in Baltimore but ended up as a general in the confederate army.
Still get a kick out of what you did with that.
Unfortunately that one is a lengthy novelette. Remember that I’m restricted to about 10 printed pages.
I like this, though! You’re bringing back memories.
Millennium Party or Flatline, perhaps?
I don’t know how well it would work here, out of context, but I’m fond of Chapter 12 of Quillifer the Knight, where the firedrake meets the Loyall and Worshipfull Companie of Cannoneers. Or the first scene of The Tang Dynasty Underwater Pyramid is pretty good all by itself.
