Hobbling to the Finish
by wjw on October 9, 2019
I’m trying to finish the next Praxis book, which I hope to do in the next few days, so I’m spending even less time here than usual.
In the meantime feel free to enjoy this interview with LD Colter, 2018 Taos Toolbox graduate and author of While Gods Sleep.
PS: I continue to improve four weeks after surgery. Pain is down, mobility is up, and I can hardly wait till I’m allowed to drive again.

Yay! (And if you need a good beta reader…!)
Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better!
Likewise on the beta-reader thing?!
Also, what’s the release date on Q2? Amazon currently says “December 31, 2050” which I’m hoping is wrong since I’m not gonna survive that long.
For Etaoin – Barnes & Noble lists the release date for Quillifer the Knight as November 5th, 2019.
For Walter – good to hear that you’re back in the saddle, so to speak! And glad your recovery seems to be going well.
Is the process of writing the endings easy or hard for you? For me, the endings tend to come in a rush and I’ve wound up taking days off from work because I can’t get the story onto the page fast enough. I have friends, though, for whom each book is Zeno’s Draft, line by painful line. Where do you fall on the spectrum? Or is it different from project to project?
John, I always know the ending by the time I begin, so ending are usually easy, or at any rate easier. The problem isn’t figuring out what to do, but figuring out how to do it =right.=
The middle bit is always hard, because I get bogged down in subplots and character moments, and it’s hard to figure out how they fit together. Turns out I did them well this time, except that I didn’t know it at the time.
