Reviews for The Accidental War are beginning to tumble in.

“The Accidental War eventually breaks open into genuinely exciting action, but the book’s most dramatic moments are the most unlikely ones; a critical turning point takes place over the course of a committee meeting, without a (literal) shot fired. Though the first Praxis trilogy precedes it, readers who enjoyed Ann Leckie’s award-winning Ancillary Justice and its sequels will find similar pleasures here. Williams lays out the slow-burn decline of an empire with supreme confidence. It’s a masterful piece of space opera.”

“Williams is consummate writer. His worldbuilding continues excellent, his characterization is solid and believable, and his attention to detail while juggling a complex story of intrigue and financial disaster is deeply, impressive. Well-paced, tense, and deeply compelling, The Accidental War is a very entertaining work. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens next.”

Is the image the cover for the next book? Same artist/style as the cover for TAW but obviously a different image — more ships, different perspective.
BTW, I found it odd that in the “Dramatis Personae” you listed Sempronia, but she is never even mentioned in the story. Is this some sort of meta-foreshadowing? 🙂
No, that’s the same cover art. Slightly different cover design, though.
Sempronia won’t be away forever. Because this is a soap opera, in which a character vanishes for a few years, then returns older and played by a different actress.
Finished the book at 3 a.m. 🙂 Couldn’t stop reading. Waiting to see how you screw with our beloved characters in the next one.
Just arrived today. Chuckling to myself: I know all these characters. I get all the in-jokes. Enjoying it so much!
I’m having very mixed emotions here. I’m 3/4 of the way through and flipping pages as fast as I can yet dreading finishing because I will then have no Praxis book for many long months. This new adventure does not disappoint. At least Quillifer is only a year away…
