Fraught. (And Schizophrenic)
by wjw on August 30, 2018
My life at the moment is fraught, because I’m juggling two important tasks. First, I’m gearing up for the launch of The Accidental War next week. Second, I’m madly trying to finish Quillifer the Knight, which is also due next week.
I’ve got three scenes to go, but the problem with my scenes is that I never know if they’re going to be 3000-word scenes or 15,000-word scenes. Since my books tend to end in a great big rush— plus maybe a few explosions— I think the scenes will be short, but I can never know.
I know I’m really pleased with the job of plotting I’ve done on this one. Maybe the best ever. The last few scenes are one huge reveal after another, and all were carefully foreshadowed earlier in the work. But not so you’d notice, or so I hope.
It’ll be at least a year before Quillifer the Knight is released, so you’ll have to be content with all the rushing and explosions in The Accidental War. (I’m blowing up my universe again, the way I do.)
So I won’t be posting a lot here till those three scenes are done. Wish me luck.
Knock ’em dead, WJW. Luck!
> at least a year
NoooooooooOOOOOooooOoOoOooOOOOOooooooOOoooOOOoooOOOoooo. . . !
I will not only wish you luck, I will sacrifice a chicken for you at the dark of the moon. ‘Cause that’s what friends do.
Good luck and may every key stroke be golden!
In preparation for The Accidental War, I am rereading the first three Dread Empire’s Fall books. Almost finished with The Praxis, and quite enjoying the second read.
And … we have to wait a year for Quillifer the Knight? Just damn. Publishers are soooo slow.
And, The Accidental War just showed up in my Kindle. Happy day.
