My new sale has put Voice of the Whirlwind at #1 for SF at Kobo, and landed me on Amazon’s best-seller list. Which is not bad for a thirty-year-old book.
I just finished rereading your “Praxis” series, and loved it. I’m really looking forward to the next one, but I had a question about “Investments.” In it, Severin gets raised from the rank of lieutenant to commander, but that rank wasn’t listed in the original 3 books. Assuming that was on purpose and the exploration service has different ranks, is it the same position as the US Navy, 2 places above lieutenant and 1 below captain? (Should it have just been “ElCap”?)
Severin is in the Exploration Service, not the Fleet. The Fleet’s rank would be lieutenant-captain or elcap, but the Exploration Service has the rank of commander.
October 6 seems so far away! Sigh. 🙂

Whoops! I didn’t notice your question till now.
