Still…, the Outback shares the typical Subaru characteristics, such as the excellent AWD, low center of gravity (because of the engine design), stiff and sporty suspension, which makes it a lot of fun to drive up Juvassvegen (the comment below the image says that going up that road is a lot more fun than going down… and I completely agree with that assessment).
It’s basically a day’s drive to Pike’s Peak from here. But there are closer peaks.
Since I’ve bought the car, all I’ve got to do is some stop-and-go driving in the city, and some moderate runs on the Interstate (which gave me 30mpg mileage, believe it or not). I really haven’t had the chance to drive the car as it’s meant to be driven, let alone 160mph barreling down the Interstate.
I’m sure there are some good gravel mountain roads around there you can take it on. Just try to not wrap it around a tree.
I hope it’s the nearby streets that are the disappointments, and not the car…? 🙂
I’ve liked that car ever since I saw Petter Solberg drive an earlier model (a factory backed car, modified to FIA Group A specifications).
I drive a Subaru myself, albeit a more moderate model (2.5i Lineartronic).

How far is it from you to Pikes Peak?

But I’m hoping that day will come.
You really did get a WRX then? Cool.
Now clad that sucker in Chobham Mk III and run some silicon to Miami …
