Aboundeth Irony

Word (via Dangerous Minds) that the soundtrack of those “you wouldn’t steal a car” anti-download ads is, in fact, piratedSomebody owes Dutch composer Melchior Rietveldt a great big bucketful of Euros.

Adding injury to insult to injury, the national royalty collection agency Buma/Stemra demanded a hefty bribe before investigating the matter.   Which demand Rietveldt cheerfully recorded on a hidden microphone.

A bunch of evil exploiters hoist on their own petard.   Eat shrapnel, swine!

So the champions of free culture are now going to go to bat on behalf of strong rights protection and IP-law enforcement? Cute. But is that really a battle they want to win?

A criminal who breaks the law is still admitting that there’s a law to break. If the free-culture movement is at all true to its beliefs then it should not support this guy. At all.
