My Horrible August

by wjw on August 9, 2011

Lots of wonderful things are going to happen to me in August.  The problem is that they’re all going to happen in August.

This coming weekend, August 12-14, I will be at When Words Collide in Calgary, a brand-new literary SF convention, where I will be sharing Guest of Honor privileges with Jack Whyte, Rachel Caine, and Rob Sawyer.  I’ll also be running a writers’ workshop prior to the convention.   For any Albertans or others who may wish to meet me, I’ll include my schedule below.

Without stopping to pass Go, or for that matter New Mexico, I’ll be heading straight on from Canada to Renovation, this year’s World Science Fiction Convention, in Reno, from August 17 to August 21.  My schedule is below, for anyone who might care to hang out or get a book signed.  (I recommend the Literary Beer.)

After this I’ll actually get to go home for a few nights before Bubonicon, August 26-28, which if not in my home town is at least in my home state.   I’ll post my schedule closer to the date.

And then I’ll be winging on to Atlanta for Dragon*Con, Sept 2.5, where I’ll be sharing the Peachtree State with 35,000 fans.

So yes, I’ll be involved in lots of terrific events in August— except that they’re all in August, which means I may be be an exhausted porridge-brained nincompoop before too many weeks are out.  And I may not be posting here much— or I may be posting here a lot, because I’ll just be in the mood to babble.

Here are my schedules for the next two cons.  First, lovely Calgary:

If I were you, after I arrived in Calgary, I’d turn off my phone and just STAY THERE for the rest of August, then claim I was abducted by the Turkish intelligence or something.

Calgary in August. Escape the sessions or insist that they be held outside.
