So I saw the launch of Endeavor, which was deeply cool but only about five seconds long before the orbiter penetrated the low-lying cloud level and disappeared. The sound seemed to go on for ages.
I got great pictures, which I was planning on posting here, but I brought the wrong connector and I can’t link my camera to my computer. And I can’t use my computer anyway in the place I’m staying, because their wireless is truly fcked. I’m posting this from a borrowed computer in a hotel lobby.
(People wonder why I don’t want to do my own scanning. I’d end up with something that looked as if it were typed by 1,000,000 monkeys.
(And right now I can’t seem to manage even to keep my typeface consistent. I’m blaming the borrowed computer.)
So I’ll have to get back to y’all later. Today I’m in central Florida, tomorrow I’ll be at 10,000 feet in the mountains above Taos, and where there is almost certainly snow.
It’s a life of contrasts these days.
I bet the shuttle launch was more interesting than the Royal Wedding!
Having your teeth cleaned is more interesting than the Royal Wedding.
