Rules for Living
by wjw on August 31, 2010
I’ve lived on the planet a certain number of years, and during that time I’ve made observations about my fellow humans and the state of the universe in general. Over the years I have come to some conclusions.
Most of my ideas about life are hardly original, but a few seem to have originated with me. Here are three of Williams’ Laws.
1. Assholes always advertise. (Because they’re assholes! That’s why!)
2. While the rewards of creation are often delayed, the rewards of destruction are immediate.
3. I decline to believe in free will (as a courtesy to my friends).
Corollary to #1:
If we take away the right to free speech how will we know who the assholes are?
That’s easier than it seems— a lot of them will be the people enforcing the rules against free speech!
