The insurance company has written off my car. Alas.
I was really getting quite fond of it.
Now I have to go out and find a new one. And me still creaking when I walk.

Ouch, I had not read your post about your wreck when I commented about my own. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Is the white cloud from an airbag from powder? I thought is was smoke. My fist thought when I saw it was, “Where am I.” The next was, “Cool, smoke. I am in my car and it is burning. I hope the doors work.”
Have you spotted any difference in the way your heart beats after your accident? I don’t know if it was the nitrogen compounds in the airbag or getting hit in the chest with a bomb, but my heart has been running faster and has missed a few clicks.
If you are getting a new car, you should upgrade. Don’t let your understandable nervousness about driving talk you into a boring car.
Not to alarm you or anything, but if you’re experiencing tachycardia, or your heart is skipping beats, you need to see a doctor PDQ. Among other things, you need an EKG.
What happened was that you got punched in the chest by an airbag inflating at 200mph. This can cause bleeding around the heart, which can, ‘yknow, stop it dead. And you with it.
If you experience shortness of breath or severe tachycardia, call an ambulance. Do not try to make it to the emergency room by yourself.
Applying ice would not be a bad idea, in the interim.
ACK! and Congratulations!
I’ve just caught up with your blog about the accident and the award.
Huh! Just abouyt every accident I’ve been in went into that Twilight Zone slo-mo Sam Peckenpaw-O-vision.
Do you have a rental? If not and you’re going to a Hyundai dealer, I can give you a lift, as I need to go look at them, myself.
So sad. That was a nice car to ride in.
