Once again, we are offering the Taos Toolbox master class in writing science fiction and fantasy, June 8-21, 2008.
My co-teacher will be the fabulous Kelly Link, and there will be an appearance by special lecturer Stephen R. Donaldson.
This is a “graduate” level course, intended for people who have already been to Clarion or Odyssey, or others who are already at that level.
We will once again be at the gorgeous Snow Bear Lodge in Taos Ski Valley. Most meals will be provided. There will be one-on-one meetings with instructors, daily critiques, and the occasional writing assignment.
More information here.
Here are some photos of last year’s workshop to provide inspiration.
Is that George R R Martin sitting in the middle of the couch in the picture?
That’s right— I taught George everything he knows.
Seriously, though, he was our special lecturer last year. He couldn’t attend this year, but his place will be ably filled by Stephen R. Donaldson.

Hi, Walter–
Are there any public events planned at the workshop? Readings or whatever?
I ask because we’ll be moving to Taos in late May, and I missed hearing of your Jemez appearance until too late, dammit.
Best for 2008, Pete Tillman
(Second try; Blogger ate first??)
I doubt there would be any public events. Who would attend save for you? I’ve met all three SF fans in Taos, and I think they all grew up and went to college.
Actually, Walter, Taosenos are pretty much starved for literary entertainment. We went to a talk in midwinter last year, in a lull in a major snowstorm, on the contemporary salt trade in West Africa, and it was full! And pretty interesting.
So, if you guys can’t compete with salt miners….
Best for 2008, Pete Tillman
