So while we’ve been getting the house ready for our holiday company, I’ve been listening to XM Radio, and they’ve just proclaimed Dark Side of the Moon the greatest rock ‘n’ roll album of all time.
Sergeant Pepper was number two.
How fucked is that?

I’m just as surprised as you that Wham!’s “Make It Big” didn’t get the prize.
I can listen to one and not the other, so I can see why the Beatles were finally supplanted.
It’s not so much that “Sergeant Pepper” was listed as number two, but that I can think of a lot more important albums that DSOTM.
It was a weird list anyway. “Darkness on the Edge of Town” was listed at number four. Not that it isn’t a great album, but it makes more sense to pick either “Born to Run” or “Born in the USA.”
No Clash on the list. No people of color other than Hendrix. Boston at #20. It was one person’s eccentric list, and though I appreciate how profound it must have felt when he was sixteen and high at the midnight laser show at the planetarium, DSOTM is just =wrong.=
Where was Bon Jovi’s “Slippery When Wet”?
